Action in Milan
Weekly Wonders is your reminder of some of the cool things happening in the football world whether they’re big or small. Every weeks= brings different wonders and this week is no different.
Naturally, we’ll start in the fashion capital of the world…
Milan x Off-White Strike Again
Milan traveled in style for the second leg of their Champions League series against Tottenham Hotspurs. Off-White and Milan continued to garner eyes with their collaboration as players were fitted with vibrant red long sleeve shirts balanced with trench coats and white sneakers as their travel fits.
Their killer looks transferred to the pitch as they comfortably beat the North London club to advance to the quarterfinals.
Inter Turns 115
Staying in Milan, Inter celebrated 115 years since the club’s creation back in 1908. To celebrate the anniversary, Inter released a mini collection that includes a special version of the 22/23 home shirt, complete with “115” numbering on the back, a tee, a scarf, a mobile case, a mug and a vintage ball, decorated with the year of the club’s creation.
The centerpiece of the whole collection is the stylised club crest which has the Serpent entwined within the “IM” lettering forming the number 115.
NWSL Kit Launches
As the United States’s premier women’s football league approaches the start of their season next week, we saw several kit releases throughout the league this week.
Some releases we saw came from Gotham FC, NC Courage, and San Diego Wave that was accompanied with some more exciting news. Along with the kit launches, EA Sports announced that the NWSL was added as a playable league in the FIFA 23 video game.
Virginia Dreamin’
The semi-professional American club, Virginia Dream FC, has taken a real unique approach for their kits this spring/summer season. Creative leads, Jared Soares and Lucas Mendes reimagined a set of blank jerseys by using a Japanese dyeing technique called Shibori Itajime.
The design they concocted resembles clouds and comes in a lavender color which aligns with the celestial aesthetic of the club. Each jersey is one of a kind as they’re all dyed by hand creating unique patterns that are never the same.
