Weekly Wonders Feb. 3-7
It’s been a busy week in the intertwined worlds of football and fashion. It all started in the Caribbean with a familiar green, yellow, and black colorway…
After a brief partnership with Umbro, the Jamaican National Team signed their first ever kit deal with sports giant adidas at the turn of the year.
Even though they made a passing appearance at the Paris Fashion Show, the first primary and secondary kits of the new partnership were officially released this week. The designs are simple and clean but are unmistakingly Jamaica. It was British-born Jamaican designer Wales Bonner who designed the first entry of the Adidas Jamaican kits.
Anticipation had been building for Burberry’s first campaign under the guidance of new Creative Director, Daniel Lee. As a British fashion label, the theme is fittingly centered around ‘Britishness’ and features none other than English football international, Raheem Sterling.
In addition to featuring British celebrities, that Britishness is also being portrayed through imagery as seen in their new logo of an Equestrian Knight Design which was originally from a public competition back in 1901.
There is still more to come as the campaign is set to fully launch during London Fashion Week which is set to start February 17th and run through February 21st. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
More kit news, Kappa and AS Monaco release a stunning, accurate remake of their title-winning 1999-00 season as voted for by the fans. The kit comes with all the original details, including the same sponsor.
The likes of Marcelo Gallardo, Sabri Lamouchi, David Trezeguet, Marco Simone and Ludovic Giuly all dawned this kit. It’s available for anyone to buy on the official AS Monaco online store.
This week resulted in the rare basketball and football mashup when NBA player and Liverpool investor, Lebron James, broke the all-time NBA scoring record on February 8th.
The collaboration features a wide range of pieces including jerseys, everyday apparel, and even footwear.
