032c x Juve
Juventus football club's partnership announcement with 032c, the Berlin-based magazine and fashion brand, has sparked a mix of excitement (and less excitement) among fans. While the collaboration signifies a step forward in merging football and fashion, some of us feel that it fell short of their expectations. The collection, comprising two limited-edition jerseys and various accessories, attempted to combine sport and style, but we are not fully convinced by the execution.
The new Juventus jersey, a joint effort with 032c and the first personalized adidas kit for the 2023/24 season, comes in both short-sleeved and long-sleeved versions. The incorporation of 032c's iconic flame symbol, supposedly symbolizing the passion of Juventus fans, added a touch of uniqueness to the design. However, we argue that the alterations made to the jersey were relatively minor and question the hefty price tag of €249.
While Juventus has enjoyed previous successful fashion collaborations, like the one with Palace Skateboard, this recent venture with 032c struggled to match the same level of anticipation and enthusiasm. The previous collaboration with the Mexican brand Ministry of Youth garnered more attention during the American tour.
Nonetheless, there are still notable aspects that deserve praise. The imagery associated with the partnership is undeniably impressive and iconic, placing Juventus at the center of discussions within the fashion world. The launch event itself was visually captivating and exuded a sense of excitement with Maria Koch being behind the decks to spin some tunes and turn LA into Berlin. We personally like to see things like this. Additionally, the inclusion of a Balaclava to the longsleeve jersey brought an interesting touch, although its purpose and connection to the overall story remained unclear
While fashion collaborations may not always need a specific purpose, football is deeply rooted in storytelling, and some fans were left yearning for a more meaningful connection to the club's narrative. Nevertheless, it's important to recognize that satisfying every fan's expectations is a challenging task.
Despite the mixed reception, the new Juventus x 032c jersey is available for those who wish to own a piece of this collaboration. With its distinctive imagery and fashion-forward elements, the jersey undoubtedly holds appeal for a segment of the fanbase. The club's official store will be offering the collection at a price of €249, starting from July 26th.
